This is the first crop that I've gone to with this group - it's a local group named the Dallas Crafter's Marathon, and can be found on Meetup.com. They rent a great space in Plano from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon and just craft to their heart's content. Each crafter gets their own six foot table (exactly like the one I have at home, which was nice) so that she (or he) can spread out as much or as little as possible. I went to scrapbook, but there were several people knitting, crocheting and doing other crafts and it was a nice mix.
This is the front door, so you knew you were in the right place:
I liked it so much that I stayed later than I expected to each night (Friday and Saturday), finished six pages (three double page layouts) and finally completed my daughter's second year album. It really was a great weekend! There are a lot of restaurants very close, a 7-11 just outside, and Michael's, Hobby Lobby and Joann's right down the road (Target and Walmart are also very close, just in case you've got a major urge to shop). The facility is looking into adding WiFi very soon, which will be another bonus, but this is really an amazing place to crop.
So if you're looking for space to craft and make some new crafty friends, check out the Dallas Crafter's Marathon on Meetup.com. There are two crops in March, both of which are free; the second one is scheduled for the last weekend of the month and has already been filled with a waiting list, BUT Donna mentioned the owner is adding more tables so spaces will open up (as well as people do have conflicts arise and are unable to make it, so spots open that way as well). The cost for March is free; the usual charge for the crop is $25, which is actually quite a bargain for a two day crop. The hours of the crop are Friday night, 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.; Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m.; and Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. - well worth the cost for the space, the location and the company! :) Hope to see you soon!
